Novel connection. When Richie punches Russell in the face, his mother wants to call the principal, however, Russell wants to keep quiet about the whole incident. Russell’s mom’s response was, “I’m not doing nothing. If one adult did this to another, he be in jail. Why should it be different for kids?” (p. 45)
Blog Question: Should kids solve their own problems or should adults/parents get involved? Explain.
Kids should solve their own problems if its not that serous. But if there's violence involved then parents should get involved. For Russell's case his mom should get involved, his mom is doing the right thing: "I'm not doing nothing. If one adult did this to another, he would be in jail", a quote by Russell's mom in pg.45. Russell doesn't understand that things can get very serous and he can get hurt very badly and can get injured for life, like Elliot, he got hit in the head, he could have gotten a brain problem meaning he can be disabled for life. That would effect his future. So Russell should let his mom take action about this, unless he is sure he can handle it.
